You may find yourself in the category of individuals who even though you are dissatisfied with your job and have enough finanacial resources, you may not be ready for full time retirement. For many, full time reitrement may become a death sentence if they think they want to look forward to fishing or playing golf every day. They will soon become bored wit this routine. If you have some doubts about whether you are ready for full time reitrement, you probably are  not ready to leave the work force. However, there are other considerations you must take into account such as your age,  your health, the health of your spouse, your attitude toward leisure, and how much you like being around your work colleagues.

Before you consider full retirement you must consider the following signs that will indicate to you that you are not ready for full time retirement. You think that retirement will make you happy and if you think this way you may be very disappointed in retirement. If you have no hobbies out side of work,  you will most likely not find full retirement what you were expecting. If your best friends are at work and all of your social functions are work related, then full time retirement will again be a disappointment to you. If you break into a cold sweat thinking about spending all of your time with your spouse, you are not ready especially if your spouse on weekends complains about you getting into her or his hair. If you are a workaholic and constantly think about work, you are not ready for full time retirement.

So why not develop a method of having your cake and eating it too, Investigate part time retirement. Semi-retirement has its positive sides as you can develop a freer lifestyle and continue the positives being in the work force. Semi-retirement will allow you to still feel productive along with maintaining relationships with your work colleagues. While continuing to be creative at work, you will also be able to get out of your spouse’s hair.

Semi-retirement is a way to go graceully from full employment to full time retirement. This can allow time to change gears from one environment to another. Semi-retirement will also allow you more leisure time to develop interests outside of your job so that you will be better equipped to enter full retirement.
